Sakurajima Volcanic Alert Level Raised to
Level 3
**********************************************

From late June of this year, the Showa Crater
of Sakurajima has been regularly active and
erupting.
Going into July, eruptions have occurred
36 times.
Due to this, the Kagoshima Local Meteorological
Observatory has announced a "Crater Area Warning" on 11am, 19th July, raising the Volcanic
Alert Level from 2 "restrictions to
crater surrounding areas" to 3 "restrictions to entering the volcanic
area".
Entry to within a 2km radius of Sakurajima's Minami-dake and Showa Crater is prohibited.
Caution should also be taken with regards
to Sakurajima's continuing volcanic activity.
