Changes to Measures (1st August 2009 onwards)

Changes to Addressing Influenza A(H1N1)

Due to a review to the policy used to address Influenza A(H1N1) by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the medical system in Kagoshima City and the entire Prefecture has been changed as below as of 1st August 2009 (Sat) (Prefectural information can be found here).

As part of the changes to the method of consultations, all persons with fevers can proceed directly to any medical institution in the City.

[After the Change]
As a rule, consultations are available at all medical institutions!

*First, call your family doctor and make an appointment for a consultation.
*In the event that you do not know which medical institution to go to, please call the Fever Consultation Center.

[But wait! Please abide by the following rules when seeing the doctor]

*First, call the medical institution and make an appointment.
*During the consultation, make sure you wear a mask. This is an important courtesy to other patients.
*If there are individuals possibly exhibiting similar symptoms at the school or facility which you attend, please inform the doctor.

A "Don't catch it, don't spread it" motto to counter influenza.

¦ The methods for preventing Influenza A(H1N1) are the same as for preventing the normal seasonal flu. Wash your hands and gargle, and wear face masks.

*Please make sure you read the instructions before putting the mask.

When putting on the mask, please ensure that the nose and chin are completely concealed.

Also, when taking off the mask, take it off from the rubber straps, being careful not to touch the mask surface (if you do touch the mask surface, please wash your hands).

¦ When you are feeling unwell, it is important that you don't overdo it and get plenty of nutrition and sleep.

Please enforce the cough etiquette.

Cough Etiquette
(1) When coughing or sneezing, do so with a tissue over your mouth and nose, facing away from other people, and standing a distance of at least 2m.
(2) Throw away the dirtied tissue into a lidded bin immediately.
(3) Those with coughs are encouraged to wear face masks.
(4) When using a face mask, read the instructions and put it on properly.

These points are very important, so please abide by them if you exhibit symptoms.
